Peter Collins (1923-2001) - Study of Dachshunds
Peter Collins was a prolific British artist and designer whose passion for painting and visual art endured throughout his life. He began his career as a designer at an advertising agency before studying at the Royal College of Art (1947–1950).
Primarily a painter, Collins produced a remarkable and diverse body of work in oil, watercolour, pastel, and print. His subjects ranged from interiors and landscapes to abstractions, advertisements, and figure studies, all rendered with dynamic colour and expressive line.
He exhibited at the Royal Academy and in numerous galleries across the UK. Later, he co-founded Balcombe Galleries and worked from Stanley Studios in Chelsea, becoming a central figure in the London art scene. His work is held in both public and private collections, including the Scottish Arts Council and Aberdeen Art Gallery.
