








Toby Horne Shepard (1909-1993) - print of a stunning nude
Born in Dundee and educated at Harris Academy, Horne Shepherd studied at Dundee School of Art (1924–26) and then at Glasgow School of Art, where he won prizes for portrait and landscape, along with a travelling scholarship. He taught at Glasgow School of Art (1930–32) before moving to London for portrait commissions and later became a lecturer at Shoreditch Training College, rising to senior lecturer in 1947.
From 1954, he held posts at leading institutions including Ealing School of Art, St Martin’s, and Sir John Cass School of Art, retiring in 1974. His work was widely exhibited, from Glasgow and London to Washington, Rome, and South Africa, marking him as both a dedicated educator and a prolific painter.
